Vanity Van’s teams and exclusive indoor and outdoor mobile salon set ups feature in a diverse range of events and campaigns including corporate events, private parties, festivals, pr campaigns and in store retail activation’s with nationwide retailers.

We are recruiting for contracts in London and the surrounding areas and UK wide where travel and accommodation where relevant is paid. The work is very varied and fun – each event is different!

We are currently recruiting multi skilled therapists to work in our ever growing UK wide team. We are particularly seeking people who have a mixture of the following skills –

  • hair cuts
  • hair styling
  • barbering
  • make up
  • eyelashes
  • face/body art
  • nails
  • facials
  • threading
  • eyebrows
  • wet shaving
  • moustache and beard trimming
  • massage
  • reiki
  • reflexology

Terms

Once you are taken onto our books temporary freelance contracts are sent out to you with detailed terms and you can choose whether to apply for them. You are under no obligation to accept the work.

Most of the work we are recruiting for we undertake is either a fixed rate or hourly rated which ranges from £15-£30 per hour depending on the number of hours worked, your experience and length of time with the company.

We also offer free and subsidised training for our teams and additional perks.

Interviews

We are interviewing in London central and Manchester central on the following dates. Interviews start at 10am and run for a few hours depending on your skill sets.

  • London – Thursday 13th April 2017
  • Manchester – Sunday 16th April 2017

Further briefing information about working for Vanity Van and how the interviews will work for each location will be sent with your confirmation email. We will confirm exact locations and arrangements nearer the time.

During the interviews we will conduct a briefing, one to one interviews and then trade tests to assess your skill sets. To ensure we can get everything done in the time required you will need to bring a friend/colleague or family member who is available for the same time period and is happy to have free treatments conducted on them by the interview group. If we are short of models then candidates will conduct treatments on each other and the interviewer.

Once your application is recd it will be considered and then we will confirm if you are to be interviewed by the team and send you further details. Once you are on the books you will receive all future work opportunities with us.

Vanity Van Pring 3 hi res

Vanity Van are an events based mobile beauty company who specialise in delivering services to the music industry, corporate and retail. We create unique event experiences for companies and individuals and run campaigns for brands utilising a wide range of hair, make up and beauty treatments. We have a series of indoor and outdoor salons and a large team of therapists, managers and PRs across the UK.

Vanity Van’s summer tour involves running salon activations at various festival and corporate events. We are looking for interns who are looking for experience in events to help support these activities.

Event management assistant
Duties / Responsibilities

– Aiding with the preplanning and onsite organisation of of logistics, equipment, stock and staffing
– Involvement with event administration onsite and offsite
– Helping with the setting up/breaking down and the running of the on site salon activity
– Working front of house on reception talking to the public and artists about the services and helping with appointments and data gathering
– Supporting the event manager during staff briefings and debriefs
– Helping compile event reports and feedback for clients

Event PR assistant

Duties / Responsibilities

Event based work

– Helping with the setting up/breaking down and the running of the on site salon activity
– Working front of house on reception talking to the people about the services and helping with appointments and data gathering

– Helping create and collate social media content
– Working on website content and blogs
– Aiding decisions on what photographs and content are to be used for online and press
– Helping with press releases
– Helping with collating of data for marketing clients and media contacts

This will involve 2-3 months working on site and offsite conducting pre and post event activities we are ideally seeking someone to work at all the events throughout the summer but will consider applications from those that cannot attend them all and consider a job split between a few individuals. The off site work once trained is around 1-2 days a week (could be job shared) can also be conducted remotely we are quite flexible in terms of hours, locations etc.

Prep work for events

Normally PR prep work for the big events e.g. festivals is the 1-2 days before we leave for the event in Bournemouth and post event work the day or two after we return from the event again in Bournemouth.

For festivals we normally arrive the day before and leave the day after. For corporates the events are normally conducted in one day.

Vanity Van’s indoor and outdoor mobile salons feature in a diverse range of situations, including corporate events, private parties, high profile star studded music events including backstage at festivals and front of house at Glastonbury and in store retail activation’s with nationwide retailers.

We have lots of work in London and the surrounding areas and contracts UK wide where travel and accommodation where relevant is paid. The work is very varied and fun – each event is different!

Skills

We are currently seeking multi skilled therapists to work in our ever growing UK wide team. We are particularly seeking people who have a mixture of the following skills –

  • hair cuts
  • hair styling
  • make up
  • eyelashes
  • face/body art
  • nails
  • facials
  • threading
  • massage
  • eyebrows
  • wet shaving
  • moustache and beard trimming

We are also looking for team members who can teach hair and make up skills in our workship, personal trainers, yoga teachers and fashion stylists.

Terms

For some public events such as Glastonbury we pay a commission rate and some of the celeb work is conducted for a few hours work a day in exchange for entry to the festival, some expenses and portfolio shots.

To drive our Sales & Marketing effort we are seeking an experienced Sales professional to join our team based within Vanity Van HQ in East Dulwich London SE22, over time remote working may also be considered.

This is both a proactive and reactive sales role – the right candidate will able to demonstrate their consultative sales skills, be tenacious, possess exceptional organisation skills and be target driven

Core Duties / Responsibilities

Devising the sales strategy and creating the annual sales and marketing plan

Researching and approaching new clients proactively with telemarketing and face to face meetings

Negotiating terms with event clients, closing the deal

Responding to incoming enquiries

Custodian of the client database, responsible for updates

Representing the company at trade exhibitions and events

Social media planning, inputting and support

Creating and monitoring E-shots

Managing the production of all marketing materials to including leaflets, posters, flyers, newsletters, eshots and video content

Updating and refreshing the website content using a content manager

Adhoc event management support

Providing support to the director in project discussions and problem solving

Hours and benefits

The position is full time on a freelance contract basis. Subject to a 3 month probationary period.

Office hours are Monday to Friday 9am-5pm with some out of hours support for specific event management jobs and event monitoring.
