With every October comes the same dreaded decision about what you’re going to dress up as. Halloween obsessives may have been planning their Halloween makeup since last year, for the rest of us self-proclaimed procrastinators, we are more likely to be thinking, “can’t I just say screw it and paint some cat whiskers on my face again”. The Vanity Van team are coming to the rescue this year with some unusual, simple ideas to encourage you to get creative with your looks.
The Colourful Clown
A creepy clown is a cult favourite in the Halloween costume realm, but why not put a creative spin on it? Instead of your classic IT-esque, circus clown, swap your red and black paints for bold neon eyeshadows and bright lipstick. This colourful clown look is incredibly simple to create – perfect for those of you leaving your costume to the last minute. There is no need to be light handed with your application, a bit of smudged lipstick here and there will only add to the look. And there you have it – glamour in the form of a nightmare… Photo credit to @dehsonae
Spooktastic Lip Art
When it comes to Halloween makeup, lips are sadly often neglected. The Halloween lip art possibilities are endless, from slapping on all the blood and gore you can get your hands on to art inspired by your favourite spooky characters. A personal favourite of ours is the glitter pumpkin lip art and what a scarily good Instagram post. Pair your lip of choice up with a smoky eye and you’ll be turning heads all night. Forget the Setting Spray
I’m sure none of us can forget the ‘melting face’ makeup trend that took the internet by storm in 2016 and guess what ladies, it’s making a comeback. Whether you want to look like a melted ice cream or you’re opting for something straight out of a horror film, the only supplies needed for this look is foundation and scar gel and you’ll be melting like butter on toast. This is the only time where you will be intentionally encouraging your makeup to melt off, so forget the setting spray and go in hard. Photo credit to @desiperkins
