Besides from the obligatory seasonal wardrobe makeover and the change in climate, the arrival of autumn also brings with it the sudden urge to revamp your hairstyle. While braids are the perfect go-to for keeping your hair out of your face in the summer months, the transition into Autumn can also wreak havoc on your hair. So, to keep your hair protected from the wind, rain and crisp air, why not experiment with the latest braid trends? From a twist on a classic hair accessory to a playful up-do, these braided hairstyles are set to dominate the beauty world this autumn.
Double dutch braided ponytails
As a playful and stylish alternative to the ever-popular, classic French braid, why not try out a Dutch braid? While not new, the dutch braid trend has been popularised over the past few years by a line up of A-list celebrities and influencers, and now you can try it out too.
-Start by sectioning your hair into two sections and begin Dutch braiding each side of your hair.
-To Dutch braid, take a small section of hair near the front of your head, then divide it into 3 equal sub sections. Cross the two outer strands under the middle strand. Incorporate more hair from the sides as you continue to braid until you reach the nape of your neck.
-Secure the braid into a loose ponytail with a hair tie, and repeat this step with the other section of hair.
-Take a section from the ponytail, wrap it around the hair band and secure it underneath with a hair grip. Polish the look off with a spritz of hairspray.
Vamp up your space buns
When it comes to a easy, low-maintenance hairstyle, dry shampoo and space buns are a girls best friend. But, while they’re the saviours of last minute hairstyles after a late start in the morning, that doesn’t mean that they need to look messy and undone. With these simple tips and tricks, you can put your own spin on the classic space bun hairstyle! It’s time to stand out from the crowd.
-Split your hair half up and half down and separate the top of your hair into two equal sections.
-French braid each side of your hair and continue until you reach the crown of your head. Secure each section into a ponytail.
-Begin to plait each ponytail into a normal braid, and secure it with a clear elastic.
-Twist the plait and wrap it around the hair band to create a bun and pin it in place. Add texture and volume by pulling the braids wider or making the buns bigger or messier. Secure your braided masterpiece in place with a spritz of hairspray.
Dress up your locks
An easy way to add a pop of colour and texture to your classic braid is to incorporate a patterned head scarf throughout your braid. Hair scarves are incredibly versatile, as they can be braided throughout the hair or used as a hair tie to pop a classic braid. While bold, vibrant prints and floral head scarves are perfect for the summer, you can easily vamp up these braided hairstyles for autumn with deep burgundy shades and autumnal patterns.
